When cuddling with Lola in bed the other morning and scratching her tummy (she loves that) I noticed that heart beat was a bit odd, goes faster then slower then faster again. At the vet for her 3rd shot this morning, I asked her about it and she had a listen. She explained to me that her heart rate quickens when breathing in and slows when breathing out. She told me that this is common and nothing to worry about. I was wondering if anyone else has some across this?

Yes, I have noticed this and asked my vet about it and he also said it is normal it is just when the heartbeat speeds up and she is also panting very hard that you should look into it because that would mean that the heart is working very hard and not normal that is why she will pant as if she just had a good run or are very hot. Luckily mine did not pant as well.

Lola hardly ever pants, only when we have gone for a walk :-)

I felt Taylor's as a baby because i was THE most paranoid dog owner around! I was even convinced she would be one of those dogs with an under or over bite! ha ha! i checked her teeth 100 times a day! lol! But i did feel her heart was like you say - i never really worried about it though because she is very fit and sometimes i think it's just because of how she is breathing like you say. Good to know that it is nothing though I know these little dogs are famous for the defects but remember it wont happen to them ALL! you should rest easy knowing your vet is happy with how she is

I do not think you have anything to worry about as TaylorWoods said it does not happen to all of them we are just to paranoid. I used to be that way but have since learned to calm myself down. They are just fine.

Like I say, i was convinced i would get this puppy and have every problem i had ever heard of! Because people love to tell the horror stories and make the breed out to be finicky and fragile and sickly. They ARE prone to certain conditions but not all of them are! I have 2 Yorkies who the vet was so impressed with because he said he has not seen such strong and fit little dogs in perfect health as them in a long time! Dynamite comes in small packages

Thanks for all the kind words ladies. The vet was very confident with her general health. I am very proud of her!
