| My yorkie Tinkerbell has a very thick coat and her hair is allways in her eyes and her eyes get very mucky, I need to clean them every day, I am thinking of clipping her short. I am not to sure if I should do it or not. She is very good at sitting still to get brushed but don't go near her face!!!!Then she wiggles all the time. I want to know if I should get her face and body trimmed or should I 'train' her face hair to growdown the sides of her mouth and out of her eyes.(I hope you understand what I mean by training her hair)Would the problem of hair being in the eyes stop if they are longer?? I can make a ponytail on her head but she still has a fringe which are too short to be in the pony! Your advise is appreciated. Thanks |

| personally my 2 have short hair because I dont have the time or hte heart to try and brush out knots! My 2 sleep outside most nights and if here is a chill i the air they have jerseys on which rubs the hair into dreadlocks! I personally find them to have real attitude after a haircut!
As for the eyes, I taught both of mine to respect the scissors and not be afraid so i dont have the problem of then not sitting still. But some Yorkies are just more prone to running eyes than others. my female battles with it, i wash her face daily whereas my male never gets runny eyes. He gets sleep in his eyes which is always dry and i simply wipe it away.
My 2 have SHOCKING hairdo's on their faces i will admit that! my own fault! I took Taylor for a cut at the parlous when she was 4 months and they cut it short so now i keep messing it up again and again because it is never quite long enough to tie up and I hate it in her eyes so i rather trim it!
The beards are always a mess! ha ha! especially when eating something yummy and sticky!
I would suggest if you want to take her to a parlous, google Yorkie cuts and choose one that you like for yours before tkaing her in anywhere. and give it to them as a guideline. |

| I say what ever is in the interest of a specific dog and your life style, if you do not have the time to do it yourself or the coat is just unmanagable or maybe like where I live it is just to warm for some then take her to a good palor and get a nice cut. I have some in coat some not. What ever is best for all involved.
Unfotunately I have found that once the hair around the eyes have been cut it is almost impossible to get it all long again and in a topknot. |

| I think all long haired doggy owners have at some stage been at the crossroads of long hair vs short hair I agree with Amoureux - whatever is best for all involved I have some fur kids that have the easiest coats to care for, & some that have coats that require a lot more care. But keep in mind that Tinkerbell is still a puppy I found with a lot (not all) of my fur kids that their hair was a lot more difficult until about the age of 1 year old, then became a lot easier to care for in their adult years. So if your ultimate goal is a long coat then persevere though the puppy months - it should become easier. If you do decide to cut her coat then TaylorWoods gave very good advice - take a picture to the parlour to show them what kind of cut you want Winter not far off - Might also be best to wait until next summer before deciding |
