| I was prompted to post this topic after watching Bella eat a little piece of caramel corn today. It was like a little science experiment for her. First, she tried to figure out if she liked it. Then she sat it down and licked it while sitting on the arm of the sofa. She continued to lick it with caution until she finally picked it up and chewed. She chewed it like a child eating a new food....slow with some pauses. I was so thoroughly amused! So what is your story? What's the funniest thing you've watched your yorkie eat? |

| Egg shells.
We have a very large, very green garden with huge trees...and a considerable amount of bird life. A few weeks ago we had a strong wind storm and the following morning there were a couple of smashed bird eggs on the ground at the base of one of the trees.
Puddin found the shells and became very excited by them. She would pick up a piece and "taste" it by smacking lips and moving it around on her tongue. When she had all of the "taste" off of it, she would drop it in the lawn and go get another piece. She was at this for nearly an hour, until she had collected and "tasted" every piece of egg shell she could find!
She will eat just about anything, though, so it is very amusing to watch her work out new foods! |

| We are putting up the Christmas tree today. Last year at Christmas we were in the middle of moving so we didn't put up the tree, so this will be her first experience. I am expecting a lot of barking (it is a tall tree, so she may well think it is some strange-looking intruder) and chewed ornaments, particularly the pine cones! So, let's see what new and strange stuff we can add to her list of "things worthy of tasting"! |

| Can you put it up on a table? My previous tree was only about a metre tall, so we set it up on a lamp table and that kept the Maltese away from it. Our new tree, however, is 1.8m tall, so it's gonna be on the floor and Puddin' has never seen a Christmas tree before, so it is anybody's guess how she will react to it!
Fortunately, I am home all day, so I can keep an eye on her, although I suspect I am going to have to take the laptop out to the lounge for a while!! |

| Our tree is about 1.6m tall. We do have little tables that can be used as pedastills. Maybe that will work. Then there are also the lights that I will have to keep away from him. He loves chewing chords!!!! Will let you know how it goes. |

| June hunts and eats moths and other flying insects She likes chasing them down and then eating them with relish, like they are the yummiest treat in the world! People always say that Yorkies wouldn't survive in the wild, but June could totally survive on flying insects! She eats all of them, even flies. Because of this habit of hers, I deworm her regularly (every few months). I think it's gross that she eats them (and wants to kiss me afterward!), but she also controls the insects in the house, which I think is awesome |

| ChloƩ also LOVES flying insects, especially the "christmas beetles" She is so clever, she knows that they will come out at night where there is light, so she goes and sits at our front door where the outside light is on, and then she waits patiently until the emmerge and catch them in an instant This cant be good for them? I try to stop her but she is just too quick. Now I try to leave the front door closed at night. |

| You have just solved the Mystery of the Mangled Moths at my house!!
I find these pathetically mangled dead moths laying around the floors in the morning...I assumed that if Puddin' was catching them, she would eat them, but it appears she is spitting them out after chewing them a bit. Gross! But we have particularly aggressive moths that fly into my face (when I wore glasses, the nasty things would try to fly under my glasses and into my eyes!!), so I can' say I'm sorry!
I am also finding little fat brown beetles, but they aren't mangled, so I don't think Puddin' is responsible for them.
I do have to rescue the tiny geckos from her, though. They are SO good at keeping the ant population under control (we have one about 3 cm long that hangs out at the bathroom window and picks the ants off as they enter!) that I don't want her to hurt them.
I love chickens and we have a big garden and I'd love hubby to get some...or some guinea fowl...but he's afraid Puddin' would stalk and kill them. What do you think? |

| oh i have one! Look he didnt quite eat it but he would have if it had stopped nipping him! or if it died!
Our house is very close to a stream. even though we are higher than the stream we often have brown crabs in the yard. Taylor hates them and ignores them but Trigger has a small obsession! he likes to corner them and flip them over and then try and bote them without being nipped first! Of course, im no sissy but I aint picking up a crab so i let him fend for himself! he found a huge one on thursday and eventually i had to get a broom and sweep it down the bank! |
