I have been feeling weepish and mopey all morning and just figured out why: this is the first anniversary of the death of my precious Yorkie puppy, Muffin. It still breaks my heart to think of her.

Thats so sad Sweetviolet and Amoureux!!!!

I dont want to make you more sad Sweetviolet, but what happened to Muffin? Coincidently I had to put my 20yr old maltese Muffy down last year 30 Dec. So December is a sad month for me too!!!

It's a very long story, but basically she met with a freak accident when I was out of the room and was dead when I came back in. My husband had left the day before for a two week trip so I was all alone and I was just hysterical and in shock. My best friend had to come over and pry her little body out of my arms and take her to the vet for cremation. I had only had her for two weeks, but it was like losing a baby (which has happened to me). It still makes me cry to think about it.

I have a 14 yr old Maltese and I worry about him. His sister and littermate died at age 11 (they are both rescues and were sadly abused...the sister was just coming out of her shell when she passed on) but at 14 he still seems a happy, jaunty little fellow...but toothless, hard of hearing, dim of sight, and creaky. I hope he makes it another 6 years!

5th of December also a very sad day for me and my family Sad My father-in-law passed away last year on the 5th of December - a very remarkable man taken far too soon from us Sad And just hours after he passed away one of my one week old pups passed away too Sad She was such a little fighter and I really thought she was going to pull through - but she went to heaven with her grandpa Sad

What a terrible thing to have happen. Give Puddin' an extra squeeze tonight - she will know you feel down and give you a shoulder to lean on Smile

Apparently December is the time to look after our pets, we had to put our first corgi to sleep in December 03 because she had cancer, it was a horrible year for us with 4 family members dying that year - my gran in the december and then my mom had to take mitzi about 2 weeks after that - I think mom took it the worst. I remember the day clearly with mom taking her to the vet for a pain injection and coming home crying with just her blanket. it's amazing how little details stay in your head. We knew it was coming but didn't think as quickly - we had actually just gotten molly (mom brought her home with her from JHB when she went up for my gran's funeral) we wanted her to learn from Mitzi because she was such a wonderful dog - Mitzi and Molly are so good with the guests, we have guests that come back because of them Smile

This is terrible!!! I am just as paranoid with Mika when I dont hear or see him around. I run to all the rooms calling his name or search outside!!! Im always relieved to find him happily chewing a piece of bark under the bed or on the grass outside!!! I cannot imagine going through what you did sweetviolet!!!!!! My thoughts are with you!!!
