| That is worrying!!! Did you maybe contact the supplier regarding this? I contacted them for free samples, but did not get anything yet. I am also struggling with Ciara's tear stains already and dont want it to get any worse!! _________________ |

| Ok, I understand your fears and I'm totally with you. Here's what I've found from other international Acana feeders. Check out this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yorkie-health-diet/213707-has-there-ever-been-food-you-fed-did-not-make-stains-eye-goobers.html
Here's another thread on Champion Pet Foods: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yorkie-health-diet/212581-why-i-love-champion-petfoods-orijen-acana.html

| I havent heard much more but decided to still try them but now will get smaller quantities...was bringing suitcases back with me lol. We will change over next week and of course keep you informed of results....but Marilize it looks like I may have to bite the bullet and go the Barf way. Chris has been extremely helpful and a lady in Parkmore is a distributor. So I have no excuses not to get then off the poor quality pellets it appears we have here. Arelli |

| I'm glad to hear that you are taking the plunge, Arelli. Your dogs will thank you for it and within a month, you will have amazing things to say about the food I think this counts for both the Champion foods and BARF, although BARF is obviously always the better choice. I'm so happy that you're doing the switch soon. I can't wait to hear what you think about both Acana/Orijen and BARF. _________________ |

| They'll thank you on day ONE! even if you dont go full BARF all the way they thrive on the fresh meats and bones etc. Mine LOVE IT! I dont buy the real BARF stuff because Im stuck out here in the Durban sticks but I give mine fresh chicken livers, necks, kidneys you name it and they go mad for it! and I have seen a change for the better in Taylor's weight and Trigger is in perfect shape again. Also because I make sure he doesnt overindulge! lol!
Mine get Nutriphase kibble from Pick n Pay in the mornings which they nibble on and wait until I get home for the real stuff. After our dinner is over I always give them the left over carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, beans and butternut that we have had steamed as well mixed in with their meat. Their bowls are always clean! |

| Just be careful of too much chicken liver, it can make their tummies runny! I learned this at Show classes. I train Bugatti with cooked chicken liver but he gets small quantities. They say ox liver is better but my dogs go mad for chicken liver!! |

| We also experienced that with Ciara and she only gets a small quantity now and then. We use both chicken and ox livers and the dogs liver it but we always alternate with one day livers two days meet or something else and then liver again. _________________ |

| our 2 year old yorkie started losing hair (in patches), and we only ever fed her hills/eukenuba/royal...... she went to vet for skin biopsy, they couldn't find anything in particular except possible 'air allergies' so we did what we could eg. change to metal bowls, took away her plastic toys (which are her favourite), changed her bedding, bought an air purifier. as a last resort we changed her food one last time, this time asking at a pet shop....and they suggested the lamb and apple acana...as it does not contain chicken, yeast etc etc..... well, 3 months later her fur is looking better then ever, so now both our girls are on acana, and my moms 12 year old yorkie too!!! |
