You see?!?! my parlour gave poor taylor a short back and sides on her face and now she has a shaggy fringe that is too short to tie up and too long to leave loose! and it gets in her eyes and bugs her and makes them tear perhaps I should gel it up in a mohawk for her and give her some spunk! lol!

I have tried letting it grow but it's in her eyes and I know from past experience that small dogs who snap often do it because they can't see well. But i cant get it to a length i can tie it up - Should I just give her a short back and sides on her face and keep it short? The front is impossible to tie up and i always push it out her face but it flops back because her hair is so soft

She's like a mop! if i turned her upside down i could use her on the floors! lol! My clippers need to be replaced with the ones I have seen at Dischem for dogs but money is tight so i have to wait! im thinking of sending her to the parlour at the end of the month - maybe a different parlour. We have a lovely parlour near us and the lady clips and grooms dogs for shows so she is good. but when i went in there she was SO rude to me! it was a saturday and her door was open so i walked up and asked her what she charges and she told me to go away because she was busy grooming for a show and isn't open on a saturday at all!!! well her door was open and i was only asking a price - i wasnt asking her to drop what she was doing and clip my dog right there and then! after that i wouldnt go back so i went somewhere else that IS open on a saturday. I cant take my dogs in the week because im at work and it's 30 kms home and I cant leave them there all day

Ah cute! I never used to like it, but I've grown quite fond of a short fringe! Just in front of their eyes so then they don't need to wear a pony. But it must be done by the right parlour I suppose

| Taylor looks cute with her mop head!!!!
My parlour did a similar thing to Ciara. I was also trying to grow her hair so that all of it can go into a pony, but with the last visit they decided to cut her a fringe!!! I was not impressed at all, but I must say that her hair is out of her eyes all the time. So I suppose its not such a bad thing after all hey!!! _________________ |

I think you basically have one of two choices: grow it out or keep it short. I keep Cash's short and I grew June's out. June's hair also falls in front of her eyes if it isn't tied up, so she has to wear a topknot all the time. If the hair is long, it will fall into their eyes. But as soon as it is long enough, you can tie it up. I have never taken June to a groomer because I am too afraid that they'll cut her topknot! I only started trimming her this year (she turned one in Feb) and I only trim a little bit at a time. Once the topknot is cut off, it is so hard for the dog to tolerate the longer hair until it is long enough to tie up. I found that out with Cash. He went to the groomer regularly during his first year because I thought it best to keep cutting off the black hair and to get him used to the groomer. It wasn't a good idea. I never liked any of the cuts they gave him and I've never been able to grow out his fringe. It gets in his eyes and he gets irritated, plus he doesn't look like himself with a topknot. I've never had any luck with clips and little clasps that you can put in their hair because they are too heavy and fall out easily. But maybe Taylor will tolerate a clip to keep the hair out of her eyes until it is long enough for a ponytail. Good luck! I really hope you find something that works for you! If you do, let me know _________________

Taylor hair is so soft that nothing ever stays in it! and she goes out of her way to pull them out! and that's my exact problem Marilize, it's so hard to get it long enough to tie up and in the meantime it really buge her she has teary eyes as it is and she has had 2 eye infection in her short lifetime already so i try to keep the hair around her eyes cut off andher fringe out her face - easier said than done! i really think some gel might do the trick!

I'm taking Pepper on Friday for a trim but I'm in two minds about having his hair cut short or just have the usual trimmings done. Anyone know what different styles there are out there? I don't want him shaved but his hair is getting SO long now and it's starting to warm up outside so I don't want him to get hot either. He has such a great coat and doesn't knot easily but sometimes he just looks like a real ragamuffin! Any suggestions??

I am just as confused as you are. Mine are going this morning . Tammy has got very thick hair and I am sure she must be very warm. Would also like to see some styles. The longer, thicker hair gets dirty very easily underneath the body.
