I've found a beach where dogs are permitted: Muizenberg. Does anyone have better suggestions for a meet-up venue in Cape Town?
Also, who would be interested in a meet-up?

Ok, let's do it!!

I've been taking my dog's to a new big park in Cape Town - Keurboom park. It's as big as four rugby fields and all the dogs there are well-socialized.

I haven't been to Muizenberg beach yet. Have any of you? I have no idea what to expect - maybe I can go there this weekend to check it out.

Let's decide on a location?

The park in Cape Town sounds nice. I havent taken them (Ciara) anywhere besides the park in our complex. Mika has not had an outside visit yet. Do you think I should first walk him and Ciara in our park at home before bringing him to the get together?? He still has his puppy madness!!

Don't worry - he will learn quickly! The great thing about the Keurboom park is that the other dogs who go there are well-trained and socialized.

I've been taking the foster puppy there for a few weeks now and even though she wasn't used to anything, we've never had a single problem. Puppy are really easy at the park: they stay close to you because they are a bit scared to venture further. This is great because if you continue to walk them as puppies, they will stay close to you as adults. Not like my Cash who runs and runs and runs.

The socialization will be very good for him. The other dogs will teach him manners Smile

I go to the park almost every day now and we love it. If everyone is fine with the park, how about we decide on a date?

I am so excited about this now Smile

I'm in! I live in Wellington, so anywhere in the Cape Peninsula is fine for me. The doggies are used to travelling!
I am writing exams until 29 October, so pretty please can we have it after that?
Anytime of the day is good for me.

He decided last night that my beret hat was a great place to rest his weary head after a hard day's work keeping cats off our property.

Lol, Dominique - your avatar picture is too cute!!!

November is perfectly fine with me. The Pet Festival is on the weekend of the 19th to the 21st of November. Should we have it on the same weekend? Otherwise, there are two weekends before that: the 6th & 7th and the 13th & 14th.

With regards to timing, I'm thinking late morning, early afternoon? Maybe 12h00? That should give everyone enough time to get to the park without having to get up super early on a Saturday Smile

I'll upload a map showing everyone how to get to the park as soon as I find one.

List of goodies to bring with you:
Harness and leash for your Yorkies, even though they will be off leash most of the time;
Treats for the doggies;
Poop scooper and bags;
Picnic blanket;
Sunblock and sunglasses for you!;
A towel, in case one decides to run in the shallow stream;
A bottle of clean water.

I have two big portable water dishes, so I'll take those along.

And then, I thought we could each bring something to eat or drink. I'm keen to bring yummy muffins or cupcakes Smile Maybe I'll even make some for the dogs too!
