They dont ask for unspayed and unneutered dogs so maybe their hearts really are in the right place. Some people really love the breed and cant afford to buy them.

And then there are other who are just out to make money out of animals that often dont even exist. I saw a dodgy advery yesterday actually...talking about "well trained yorkie puppies"...im sorry but as an owner of 2 i know there is no such thing as well trained puppies! puppies are babies out to have fun and make mess. And the picture was a common internet picture.

I suppose you can never know for sure...

I would respond if you could help me because I have never answered on a gumtree add and don't see any contact details. Embarassed Or you could if you wish. I think that is why we should ask them to join our forum so we can get to know them and see where their hearts are.

Hope so too!!! I mentioned to them that we had the discussion of a yorkie rescue not too long ago and that none of us were aware of any places in SA. Maybe they even just join the forum directly without responding to me. I am sure we will know who they are when they respond! Very Happy

I hope you sent the link! lol! perhaps they are hoping that someone sees their advert and has a dog they can't keep anymore. it happens. people buy them as cute furry little babies and the kids lose interest and no one trains them and they end up unwanted like what happened with my boyfriend's cousin.

I was forced to give my last dog away and re-home her in Underberg via SPCA and it nearly killed me...I dont know how anyone could ever do that Sad

Rest assured, I'm not a crook! hahaha Razz

I have seen and heard of too many cases of Yorkie ignorance. I am not looking for "free Yorkies," although it has a nice ring to it. (We all know that the purchase hurts!)

We mainly want to locate the Yorkies who need homes. There was a lost yorkie over the weekend who went back to the breeder, and it made me sick! It was a small female, and I know they're taking her back so they can breed her and make another buck. That was the last straw for me. I decided I'm going to open my home to the Yorkies, creating a publicly known resource for the Yorkies who are stranded, mistreated, etc.

The most important thing is to source the Yorkies into loving and understanding homes....with people who know the breed!

I've had so many replies from people who lost their yorkie and can't afford a new one. They, of course, would be the first to adopt. It's amazing how getting another yorkie can help get over the heartache. I still cry unexpectedly over the loss of Gucci, a little female we adopted. She passed away in April.

If one yorkie is saved, it's a worthwhile cause.

Bless you all!

Well we are GLAD you are legit and are here to join us! We are all here for the love of the breed Smile

Trust me, we have already had a dodgy person on here trying to ask how much their puppy is worth and spew out a whole lot of rubbish in their scam and it's so sad that there are people out there. And i was almost scammed a few months back by some heartless person too.

we have been discussing yorkie rescue lately actually and all said how wonderful it would be if we could one day start something like that Smile so maybe you will be the first to get it going and it will lead to many more Yorkies finding love and health in a happy home Smile if my home was big enough and I had the time I would do the same.

Welcome Jennifer!!!

Its me...Valmary!! Suppose you guessed that by now!!! Very Happy

Sorry for the mistrust, but like I explained before...there are so many scammers that we came across already!!! Someone even joined this site once asking how much they can charge for their yorkie?? When we aked questions the person disappeared and Marilize banned them from the site.

Once again, i would like to apologize Embarassed and hope that you will have a great time here. I am a failry new yorkie owner (ciara is 3yrs ) and am about to adopt my 2nd yorkie. I have totally fallen in love with this breed and if I can assist in any way, please call on me (since I am in the Cape as well Wink ).

I am sure you will enjoy the chatting here!!! Was that your yorkies on the gumtree add? You must post pics on the gallery on this site!
