I found this kennel on gumtree. Its a home based kennel in Brackenfell. The website is very informative. Just thought I would post it if someone was looking to buy a pup in Cape Town. The lady gives her details so you can contact her to chat and ask questions.

Seems like a very caring breeder. Her Yorkies aren't standard though. Also, I prefer breeders who focus on one breed, but that's just my opinion.

It will be very unethical for me to comment on any other Yorkshire Terrier breeders, but please compare any breeder's dogs against the breed standard before you buy.

If breeders continue to breed "what the public" want, in a couple of years time the SA Yorkies will be a disgrace to the breed.

If you do not like the breed standard Yorkshire Terrier, you should buy another breed.

It is quite sad. I have also found out the hard way now with my search for a new pup. There are so many people claiming to be breeders, but how does one know for sure that they are good breeders?? Its a difficult situation?? Question

I agree with you Janine, we should do all in our power to stop "The breeding what the public wants" breeding. Only dogs that is STRICTLY according to the standard no matter what breed should be bred.

Hi Kimmy,

I am sorry if the post became offensive. It was not intended to be that way.

Some ladies voiced their opinions and I am sorry if it hurt you.

When I posted it, it was to help people in Cape Town find a pup!

I am just a yorkie owner (not a breeder), but have come to love the breed and also only want the best. I was almost scammed twice before someone recommended a reputable breeder.

The post was not intended to hurt you or to give your kennel a bad name.

I hope you can accept my apology as I am the one that opened this post. I love you

Hello everyone

I think we should focus on the love for this magnificent breed and not breed for quantity but quality. I for one prefer a home based breeder as then I know the puppies will grow up with lots of love and attention. They will never be caged at any stage...that is the worst thing you can do to a Yorkie!!!

Most breeders do not breed to get "teacups", it just happens that sometimes you get a very small pup from a standard breeding pair. I prefer my Yorkies 2,5kg and up.

Yorkie love xoxo

Hi Everyone, nice to be on the group where all of us have one thing in common, our love for our yorkies. I just want to also mention that I personally know the breeder Brancoshire kennels, she uses my male as a stud, and also bought two pups from me to breed from. She has got some lovely yorkies, and also trying to better the breed. She has spayed two of her bitches and just keep them as pets, because to her they were not good enough to breed from. Very eager to learn, from more experienced breeders.

looking forward to being on this group. xxx Karin
