PostSubject: Puppy Trainers   Thu May 13, 2010 2:11 pm

As per the wise advice I received Janine I have decided to enroll both Taylor AND myself in some puppy training lessions. We both need it!

she is a very clever little dog and I have tried some clicker training with her but she got to the point where she was bored but would do anything for a treat! I would like to get her involved in a club and some open show classes just for fun and to improve my knowledge and her education but she is extremely excited when she sees other dogs and people...EXTREMELY!!!!!

so I have found someone near me on a website called www.petshrink.co.za with someone called Glynne Anderson who seems like an old hand in this line and has a list of references. I was hoping someone had heard of them or knows someone who has been there. they have put her in the puppy classes even though she is 8 months and we will see how she goes.

Im actually looking forward to it - I have very limited access to walking areas that are safe to exercise her so this will be great for both of us Smile

Good luck! I am sure you will both enjoy the classes very much. I think it should be a real bonding experience for the two of you. I would really like to get Diji and myself into some classes too because even though I have read An Idiot's Guide to Training and Raising Dogs not even that can help how useless I am at training my Diji. Laughing I am going to check the website you posted. Where did you find out about the Toy Breed Club in your area? I saw you joined one in another one of your posts. I would like to find something similar here in Pretoria. Smile

I found the Toy breed club on the KUSA website. Im not sure of any in Pretoria but if I find out I will let you know. Im also quite new to this so I don't know all the clubs etc yet.

We never got to start this weekend Sad we had some guests and got home after classes had started and it was POURING with rain. next weekend we are going away and if you miss any classes it's your own loss so I want to rather start in June and maybe take the new puppy with me.

Thanks I would appreciate the help!

Shame man! Sad At least when you start in June you'll be able to take both your babies. Smile I read your post on the thread "Toby arrives tomorrow. " Sooo cute! Im glad they are bonding. Sadly at the cost of your sleep. Wink

I had a look at the petshrink website! Very impressive. Glynn comes across as a real dog lover and expert! Why cant I find someone in PTA like her? hehe.

www.flourishingfairies.co.za (this one lists different regions)

I just google Puppy Trainers Pretoria and a whole list came up!

Thanks for your help!!
I have found classes now. They are group lessons that involve a mixture of clicker training, voice command and hand signals. I don't know anything about clicker training though so will have to do some research. I am going to start classes as soon as I am done writing exams. Rolling Eyes Also the reason I haven't been posting so much this past week.... I have been studying soooo much. How are your babies? Very Happy
